My dear friend Charles got news yesterday that felt like a sucker punch. His boss told him he would be laid off within the month.

Charles really liked this job. It required many of his skills and he was paid well. He wondered why his boss didn’t go to bat for him. He was curious if his strong personality rubbed someone the wrong way. He was concerned that it would be hard to find another job that was as good a match.

Along with this stew of emotions something else was happening. Within hours of the news, Charles was reaching out to old friends in high places letting them know he was looking. The next morning, he woke up early to research. Within twenty-four hours he had a three tiered plan.

Dealing with change is a success skill. It requires managing strong emotions while keeping one’s mind glued to solutions. Have you ever, like Charles, jumped into smart action despite difficult emotions? I’d love to hear your story.

You make a great point, and your sense of humor is lovely! Hahaha, the ending tag is precious.
